We've dedicated ourselves to creating a sustainable and prosperous wildlife-livestock environment on our centrally located North Carolina farm. Our farm has become an eco-sanctuary through intentional land management practices while supporting all the needs of our White Dorper sheep and chickens.
Our Man-Made Pond: A Natural Oasis
We've created our farm pond where water enters naturally from the flow of a nearby creek and other sources of groundwater. Due consideration has been taken in designing this pond so that it has a healthy aquatic environment, and we have introduced different types of fish as well. Around the pond, native vegetation has been planted to ensure the ecosystem remains balanced and flourishing. This has not only contributed to making the pond healthier but also attracted a wide range of wildlife, from birds to deer and more.
An Ecosystem in Balance
The approach to farming is harmonization with the local ecology. We have enriched our farmland with a variety of local trees, fruit trees, and nut trees. Allowing the land to foster its natural cycles has created a balanced environment that now supports wildlife. The vegetation grown around the pond and across the land has provided refuge for native species and has positively increased the area's biodiversity.
Livestock in a Natural Habitat
Our white Dorper sheep and chickens are raised in an environment that mirrors their natural habitat, with plenty of space to roam and graze. We believe that livestock and wildlife can both benefit from proper coexistence, and we have management practices in line with that philosophy.
Ongoing Land Stewardship
We are constantly working to ensure our land is properly maintained by clearing dead trees and vegetation. After removing the old growth, we plant new trees to ensure the property keeps growing well and remains healthy. This cycle of clearing and planting nurtures new growth and ensures vibrancy through the years.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Everything we do on our farm is centered around sustainability. Whether it's the pond that naturally cycles water from the creek or the local vegetation that supports wildlife and our livestock, we strive to create a farm that does not just take but gives back to the environment.
